Quarterly Report #5: Safe Life From Thunderstorms With Plants (#64560)
Quarterly Report #5: Safe Life From Thunderstorms With Plants (#64560) Bangladesh is an agricultural country where vast farmlands often remain exposed to lightning strikes, putting farmers and rural communities at risk—especially during sudden storms. Every year, many lives are lost due to this hazard. Our “Safe Life From the Thunderstorms With Plants” project is tackling this challenge by planting tall, slender trees like palm, betel nut, and palmyra, which act as natural lightning conductors. These trees help protect lives without affecting crop productivity. During this quarter, 150 palm trees were planted in Khanpur, Gorgori, Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi District as a pilot demonstration of this sustainable, life-saving approach. The project continues in Lalpur Upazila (Natore) and Bagha Upazila (Rajshahi) with strong support and active participation from local communities. This initiative not only saves lives but also promotes disaster resilience and ecological balance in rural areas. Together, we are creating safer, greener, and more resilient communities. #QuarterlyReport5 #SafeLifeProject #TreePlanting #ClimateResilience #CommunitySafety #SustainableDevelopment
